Reunion — Year of St Joseph, 2021
Based on a poem about Christ going into the "underworld" of souls waiting for the Gates of Heaven to open once more, after his crucifixion and death, but before his resurrection, and a meeting with his father on earth, St Joseph.

By my own admission, this picture could've been clearer to the view and far less cluttered with random squiggles and ill–defined forms. Especially when considering those with less than perfect eyesight viewing it.

Orinoco Womble ~ Fan Art
"Underground, overground, Wombling free!"

A watercolour illustration that I put together after a slight binge on YouTube of the original The Wombles from 1973, with narration and voices by the late Bernard Cribbins.

Growing up I only ever knew of the second The Wombles series from the late 1990s, which was made in Canada with a full voice cast.

St Andrew Dũng-Lạc
My first version of this famous Vietnamese saint, but on reflection I wish I hadn't limited myself with only red and grey watercolour. The skin tone would have been far truer if I'd used yellow as well—and put more effort into the companion martyrs behind him.

In any case, I was able to revisit this saint in 2023 and give a far better and, hopefully, more accurate representation of him (see 2023 version).

Anti-Euthanasia, 2021
Original Social Media Post:
“Life is precious, even if it contains suffering. Life comes from God & returns to God. That's what happens whether we accept it or not. Life begins at God's say so, and ends at His say so. It is a mystery of mercy, and no one and no state has the authority to interfere with His timing of our lives.”

Lydda (current day Lod) is in Israel, located between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

St Philip Neri (2021)
Founder of the Oratorians and originated the pilgrimage to the Seven Churches in Rome. He was widely known for his humility, shaving off half of his beard on one occasion.

But he had a red-hot temper that he constantly prayed to God about, and which God responded to with many tests; not all of which he passed through without his temper getting the better of him.

It was a life-long road to sanctification for St Philip Neri.
