ST CLARE OF ASSISI
First spiritual daughter of St Francis of Assisi and founder of the Poor Clares, who held aloft the Eucharistic presence of Christ Jesus in the Monstrance when various marauding armies came to attack Assisi during the 13th Century and from which shone such a bright light of heaven that those armies fled and the city and convent were saved.
